A little bit about our journey.
Our Story & Journey
Our journey into counselling has grown organically from a lifelong connection with horses and a shared commitment to supporting individuals with additional needs.
At the heart of our work is my own professional journey, which has evolved alongside the development of the centre. I originally trained at Harper Adams and worked within rural professional practice. As family life evolved, my focus shifted toward more flexible, people-centred work that could better support both my professional values and personal responsibilities.
Horses have always been central to my life. By combining extensive equine knowledge with experience of supporting children and young people with additional educational needs, we established an Equine Therapeutic Interactions centre. The centre supports young people with additional needs through therapeutic riding and equine-facilitated learning, using the unique relationship between horse and human to promote emotional regulation, confidence, communication, and personal development.
Our work is supported by a small, dedicated team who care for the horses and maintain the environment. Their role is essential in creating a calm, safe, and nurturing space in which therapeutic work can take place, ensuring the wellbeing of both participants and animals.
Through delivering equine therapy sessions, I became increasingly aware of the wider emotional challenges faced by families, schools, and supporting adults. Conversations often extended beyond the sessions themselves, highlighting the need for structured therapeutic support alongside equine-based interventions. This naturally led me to pursue formal training in counselling.
I am now a fully trained and qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) counsellor, holding professional qualifications and membership with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I also maintain an up-to-date DBS certificate, enabling me to work safely with young and vulnerable individuals.
We are proud to support a diverse range of clients and feel privileged to be trusted with personal stories as individuals progress through their therapeutic journeys. By blending equine therapy with professional counselling, we offer thoughtful, compassionate, and effective support tailored to each individual.
Sessions are available Monday to Saturday, during the day and evenings, subject to availability. Please contact us to discuss your needs. We are happy to arrange an informal telephone conversation, or you are welcome to get in touch by email if that is more convenient.
